Support a Youth Like Me

“SEADC helps me build my confidence to believe in myself.”

Jimmy came to the U.S. from Vietnam at the age of 10 through family reunification. His parents struggled to find stable housing and the family bounced from apartment to apartment for three years. Jimmy had difficulty learning English and fitting in at school. Fortunately, Jimmy’s family was introduced to SEADC. Once connected, he benefited from much-needed daily homework support and enrichment activities, while his parents received housing and other assistance.   Jimmy is the first in his family to graduate from high school in America.  Today, Jimmy is also the first in his family to attend a four year university.

Because of SEADC’s supportive enrichment program, Jimmy aspires to finish college and pursue a career in business administration.

Our community’s strongest asset is our youth.  Yet too many young people struggle to succeed in school, jobs and life.  This is especially true for immigrant Southeast Asian youth like Jimmy growing up in San Francisco’s gritty Tenderloin neighborhood.  The Southeast Asian Development Center is here to support our young people be who they want to be by providing outstanding after-school academic programs, youth leadership development and job-readiness preparation.

You can make a difference in the lives of Southeast Asian youth by donating to SEADC today! Your generous gift will help youth like Jimmy get crucial homework support, build confidence in English speaking and writing, and develop leadership and job-readiness skills.

Helping young adults like Jimmy to succeed is just one way the Southeast Asian Development Center serves our vibrant community. We also offer programs to promote the health, mental health and well-being of youth and their families, and to foster their economic self-sufficiency.

Your tax deductible donation can help:

$50 –  10 youth will receive daily-in person homework support at our Center.

$100 – 20 youth complete up to 20 hours of health education, substance prevention and mentorship workshops to be college-bound.

$200 – 30 youth and adults receive one-on-one in-person counseling to support their mental, emotional health and well-being.

$500 – 50 adults are linked to housing support, job placement, and critical public benefits.

Support a Youth Like Me is about spreading appreciation and positivity during these challenging times.

Your gift ensures that we can continue to provide teens with enriching after school activities and their families are connected to critical basic necessities.

Thank you.
